Modern Family
As my class watched a couple episodes of Modern Family, we each had to choose a character to analyze. The character I chose was Cameron. In this TV show Cameron’s character uses masterful hyperbole, and a little comparison in order to show how Cameron is gay, but you still have to love him.
In this show, Cameron is played by Eric Stonestreet. Eric has to pretend that he is gay in this show. The character Cameron uses hyperbole because he is supposed to be a gay man, whom he is but they over exaggerate it and try to make him seem even gayer than most homosexuals actually are. That is the main exaggeration they use on Cameron. Cameron has a very big dramatic personality. His personality is very outgoing as well. In the show he exaggerates a lot of things also.
Cameron is gay and has been Mitchell’s partner for about five years. He grew up on a farm and is a very big sports fan. Cameron also fosters many unusual hobbies such as collecting antique fountain pens, being adept in Japanese flower arrangement, and filming home movies. Currently, he acts as a stay-at-home dad to Lily. He is a rock drummer and loves to jam out! Although he is partners with Mitchell they are much different. Even though they say that when Cameron and Mitchell were first together Cameron was skinny, Cameron is a lot bigger than Mitchell is. Mitchell is a low-key, mild-mannered person. Cameron is not. Mitchell is not ashamed of his homosexuality. Mitchell is Jay’s son and Cameron is not. These are some reason why Cameron and Mitchell are a lot different from each other.
